Ovation 4D
![]() |
| The Ovation Series has just expanded its horizons. This popular lighting control console now controls up to 1536 channels, including scrollers. 512 additional channels are reserved for DMX spots and the system also controls up to 60 proprietary protocol spots. 2MB are provided for show data. The optional hard disk stores show files and device definitions in the console. 2 split crossfaders and 20 controllers accept group or memory assignments. Many other functions such as multi-layer patching, 999 macros, automatically triggered complex playback events, answer all of your control needs. Operator device definitions can be stored to a floppy disk or to the hard disk and loaded as needed. Libraries for spot position, color parameters, and gobos aid speedy plotting for moving lights. Optional MIDI in/out, SMPTE, and DMX input. Support for CompuLINK Ethernet connection is available. | ||
Features
Controllers/Chasers Loops or memory ranges can be assigned as chasers to the 16 controllers/chasers. Chasers run in either hard (bump from step to step) or soft (fade from step to step) playback modes. Chasers controls include: rate control, Go, hold, Step, Backstep, Change Direction, and Exit Loop. Controllers also support group, memory, and submaster assignments, which can be faded manually or automatically. Each controller accepts QList assignments. LCD displays show controller assignment status. CompuCAD CompuCAD is a tool for lighting project management. CompuCAD has several levels of color rendering that translate your lighting ideas onto a computer screen. The Cue Editor allows off line editing. The program also generates reports sorted by dimmers, channels, lighting elements, etc. Data storage and retrieval Show files and moving light libraries are stored on 3½ " 1.44Mb floppy diskettes or on the hard disk. The Autosave feature periodically creates a quick memory dump to the hard disk. Dimmer Status Used with Compulite dimmers (CMX), dimmer temperature and output information for frames and individual dimmers feedback to the operator. Dimmer malfunction can be easily traced with the aid of dimmer errors display. Ethernet Expansion Ovation 4D supports CompuLINK Ethernet nodes, providing remote console operation, as well as remote VGA and DMX distribution. Event Events can be assigned to memories, like auto assignments, operated via the editor, or triggered using SMPTE time codes. Faders 20 Faders accept group, memory, and inhibitive submaster assignments. Assignments can be faded manually or automatically. The group and memory assignments can be used as building blocks when programming memories. Groups Using the Numeric Soft keys’ Group mode program up to 100 groups of spots and/or channels for quick editing selection. Libraries Up to 100 libraries (presets) for position, color, and gobo can be stored. The libraries provide a data base used to program memories. Modification of a library updates memories. Macros Record up to 999 macros. Each macro can contain up to 40 key presses. The last 40 executed keystrokes are collected in the macro menu, can be viewed and stored as a macro. Move fade Move fades facilitate complex fade sequences by adding or subtracting memories to the current lighting state. MIDI Transmit and receive MIDI. The MIDI Sync function facilitates a "master/slave" configuration for two consoles. Multi-layer patching Multi-layer patching provides a tool for distributing the logical channel configuration from 1 - 2048. Numeric Soft keys 40 Numeric Soft keys provide instant access to all group, macro, snap, library, and Q List selections. Parameter Control The 4 banked parameter wheels control all moving light attributes. Each wheel has a dedicated LED display showing the current parameter. Either a sensitivity adjustable trackball or parameter wheels control Pan and Tilt. Printer Direct output to a parallel printer, prints the memory sheet, memory contents, libraries, and macros. Profile Record manual fade patterns, learned via the A/B crossfader, to memories. The learned fades include time fades or sampling. QLists The system supports up to 99 separate Q Lists, containing more than 1,000 memories, numbered from 1 to 999.9. Cue Lists support embedded loops, providing the environment for sophisticated playback sequences. Snap Store 100 snaps that include crossfader, controller/chaser, fader, and submaster assignments. Snaps can be imbedded in macros or operated independently. Text Add text to memories, libraries, macros, snaps, groups, and label show. Support for English, French, German, Swedish, and Hungarian keyboards. Tracking All parameters of moving fixtures and scrollers are controlled on LTP (last takes precedence) basis. Dimmers are controlled on HTP (highest takes precedence) basis. Touch Screen The interactive Touch screen is built into the console panel. Among other functions, it provides quick moving light parameter selection and editing. Crossfaders Split crossfaders A/B and C/D have LED displays that show the current and the incoming memory. Dynamic bar LEDs track the crossfade progress. Technical Description |
